Fished the Fernandina Beach back waters today for a variety of fish. Boated out to my first spot 30 minutes before low tide. My first 6 casts I caught 4 red drum and lost 2 more. Continued to fish till the tide went slack and caught 2 more reds. All were between 18" and 19" and were feisty! As the tide turned back in I moved to a trout spot and caught 6 short speckled trout. Moved on to a sheepshead spot and caught 5 sheeps, but only 2 were keepers at 13". Surprisingly, I also caught a small 11" triple tail on my fiddler crab bait! Finished the day catching a small black drum. The reds and trout were caught on Gulp shrimp on a 1/4 oz jig. The sheeps, triple tail and black drum were caught on fiddler crabs. It was a chilly, overcast day, but the fish did not care!
