I don't even know what this headline means;

Roku streamers and TVs now work with Google Assistant devices

I understand what it means.  I wouldn't know how to connect it to a tv unless it's wireless.  Probably not even then.

This is why I call the Geek Squad.  Then they spend and hour instructing me on how to use the remote

I guess I just don't care. One thing is for sure, things are not as easy as they used to be.

I got a new car a couple of months ago, and every time I start it, bells and whistles start ringing and buzzing.  I can't figure out how to stop most of it.

The owners manual is useless to me. I don't need all of that.

Just bought a 2018 F-150. It has some stupid feature that shuts the engine off at a stop light.
Needless to say I deactivated that insanity!
And some deal about being able to back up a trailer by itself?? I quit reading that ridiculous section of the manual.

I have that engine stop feature, took me two days to figure what was happening and disable it.

How did you do that, I got an '18 F150 too, need to hit the button all the time. It is simply and EPA gimmick. I got the XL which is a basic truck but, it has the "sport" option and way more crap on it than I would ever want. Why do people buy trucks like the Platinum with so much dumb garbage on it it is just amazing but, that's what people want, and are obviously willing to pay for.

Why would you buy a vehicle that has all of that if you dont need it?

Thanks to the Japanese car makers they throw all that stuff on at no charge so others have to do the same thing to keep up competitively. Things like power windows and seats, and who can live without heated seats for crying out loud.

No wonder a car costs as much as a house these days.

Go into settings and look for vehicle settings.

I did that and the default setting is to turn it on, the settings does nothing, even when I disable it in settings it still shuts off, The only thing that actually works is the button. I have even looked on the F150 Forum and they say there are only 2 ways to do it, one- jump out the switch so it is always on or Two - use some sort of software loaded on your smart phone with a cable to interface with your trucks computer so that you can go into the parameters and disable it.

You are telling me that you disabled it in settings on your dash board and it is now disabled? I tried that and it didn't work, I'l try it again I guess. But even the manual says it will reset and go back to default when you cycle power on the truck.

    I like this thread.
I thought I was an old, but I guess maybe I'm just under the cutoff for that.

As far as I know, there is no recovery for getting older.

The price of trucks has gone out of sight.  I probably won't ever buy another new one.

Trucks are stupid expensive.  Maybe I am just a cheap *** but I paid 18k for my Impreza Hatchback, no complaints.

Not permanently. I noticed that if I shut it off in the settings it would stay off for the rest of the day. Otherwise the button will shut it off until you turn the key off then restart the engine, you have to hit the button again.

Go price out a F250 diesel dually 4x4 King ranch Platinum. You could buy a nice house for the price!
Even some of those ugly Raptors are over $100K!

I can't fathom spending that much on a car.  I just can't.  I'd rather spend 20k, invest the 80k and retire 10 years earlier.

I can remember trying to buy a plain jane 4x4 with ac, no chrome and larger wheels/tires. It was almost impossible....The designers don't have a clue as to what we need in a truck. The "namby pambys" today ( to quote Gunny) want auto parallel parking and auto backup. People don't know or don't want to know how to drive anymore I guess...

A duality would be a 350 and up, right?
Those were nice, but I feel that the inside could have a nicer looking finish, for the price.
