Windy...

I got surprised when I got to the ramp today. After yesterdays nice weather I'm not sure where todays pounding NE wind came from.... but it was almost as bad as Mondays front. There was no way I could go to any exposed spots...it was just too wild.
I started in some lee's and it took a good while to catch a small snook on the CAL. Next up was a pretty good size Sennet for the river. Next up was a ladyfish. The water was really super trashed out and bait seemed like it was not as plentiful.
I ran to another lee shore spot and got a very nice upper slot trout...and a jack. I saw a Red but instead of throwing the CAL...I tried to get a bait pinned on quickly....but with the wind and clouds..I never saw it again.  I went to my last resort wind shadow for a try at a Red...and saw another that was a "soft refuse" ....it looked at the mullet....did not bolt...didn't do anything...just stayed up under the mangroves not moving. I was almost sure that it was time to call it a day...when I see a small pod of 3 or 4 Reds...but close.
I get off a slight flip cast....

So, it's 9:40  and that makes #132 ...... and a trash can slam too  :)

Today was so weird. Weather report is for "mostly sunny with light SE wind and 30% chance of showers"
Before I even leave the house a rain shower blows by. When I get to the ramp... I can see rain in the distance....and the wind is out of the ENE and is roaring like a Lion.  So on top of full moon...conditions are terrible.  I make a pass on a spot and catch a jack and a pinfish.....ugh. The rain is on me so I run north figuring that all the bad weather to the south is an omen to go north. I ride past a lot of dead fish coming in the inlet.  I hit a few spots north of the inlet but catch...jacks.....ugh!   It is light enough to see....and I can see fish in the water...dying. Well, that can't be good.
There also was not very much bait. It's almost 10 and I work my way back south. I net up some fingers and feel like I have to try and salvage this disaster trip and at least catch 1 gamefish.  The first fish I get is a Trout off a point. Dang it...this is going to force me to try hard since getting a trout late is a good omen. Next up in a mid twenties snook that jumps off....but I toss the beat up mullet back and catch a little 20 incher...OK...now I have to really try.
I hit a solid spot and conditions look good...nobody home?  As I'm on my way out I bump an over-slot Red...dang.
I run to my last spot...it's after noon. I see a Red and get the take...but it comes off and I feel like I may have let it slip thru my hands....but I head up another 50 yards and...

Short and sweet since I had no phone for pictures today....left it in my wifes car last night.
First stop is a trout and two Bluefish. Spot # 2 is a small snook so now I can run and try and find a Red on the CAL since it was cool with a lot of cloud cover.  Next spot is two more trout with one a nice 22 incher...and a jack.
Next spot is a ladyfish. change sides of the river to look at conditions and it is a bit cleaner and get another small snook and loose what I think is an underslot Red. I decide to run way south to look around and about 9:30 the sun pops out...I see a Red that refuses a finger....but downwind a ways I get my take on a nice Red. It's 10 AM and today I have some stuff to do....at the ramp at 10:30 with #134 put away.

Well, this front has really made things tough for me. The water temps have dropped a good bit and I think we are in the transition time so I'll be on the look to some winter spots.

The weekend pretty much was some snook off windy points.....and Sunday I was able to get a couple trout too....But the Redfish either were not there or not eating. I only saw one for sure on the weekend. The wind was wrong for my best spot....and the spot it is OK for...didn't have anyone home.

Today was not really any different with a few snook and a couple trout....the biggest difference was this snook....

    A "keeper" that got released.

and I did see 4 or 5 Reds...but all were super spooky and not in an eating frame of mind.

Water temp is 72 in the lagoon, north side of Sebastian Inlet is dipping below 65 at night, that is transition time, most definitely......

So Tuesday I had a guy I know out with me, We caught some trout and snook...but I never even saw a Red.

Today was about the same with some nicer sized trout and a small snook....but this was the difference.
