Went out of Longboat inlet Saturday, 9/15, and headed north to 40'. This was my first time out since the first week of the redtide, some time ago. The deadfish had disappeared inshore, so was hoping offshore as well...boy was I wrong. Dropped some divers in at 35' in hopes of grouper in my normal spots. Trolled 35' out to 50' heading north west. Ended up all to the to the shipping channel. NO HITS. Dead Fish everywhere. Mostly Pinfish, Juvenile grouper, and juvenile hogfish. Hogs are already hard enough to catch with hook and line, can't imagine how tough it will be now. Water was Mississippi river brown all the way out to 50'
Ended up 1/3 on tripletail...found them under dead breeder redfish and weed lines...upsetting. Will not waste my time going out unless its slick calm and can run 100'+.
Hope this saves some anglers time...
