New fishing shirt

duckmanJRduckmanJR Posts: 21,265 AG
Some fishing shirts are more lucky than others. So, a week ago I was at the Humane society thrift store...because I believe in their cause...and I can buy fishing clothes cheap there. Now,  I know they are not all " Salt life" and all that....but at half price...which makes it $2 for stuff that gets all blood stained...a solid value.
No big snook today....but 7 of those...and a nice Trout

and a nice Red

Done at 10:10 AM...and that's #102

The shirt may have Marlin on it...but it seems to work inshore...LOL

You are the one who gets all the good stuff at humane before I get there.

Must be a lucky shirt too.  :)  I say that last spot on the red looks like a tornado.  Bet he pulled like one too.

Today was just a plain old Hanes X-temp tee shirt...but I did get a slam even if I had to work overtime.
I got out early but not much happened for me early. The first few spots only yielded 1 hit that I missed.
My first fish however was a nice Trout...so that made me happy not having to worry about getting that done.
I was on the hunt for a snook when I came across this one...

Almost there...but got a reprieve on being just short.
So from here on it dragged a bit....5 more snook but it was not till after 9AM that I saw a Red and got refused...and two more Reds sighted but refused...It was super late but I felt that with the very high and dirty water I needed to keep looking at shallow wind shadows. It took till 12:50!.... but I finally saw one that would eat.

That's # 103.... Thankfully, being close to the ramp was on the trailer by 1...

    I finished up early today....
First spot had fish that would not bite. Next spot gave up a nice size Trout...which I am always thankful for because some days they are hard to locate. I started bouncing wind swept points and pretty soon had run up a good score of 9 snook  landed and 2 jumped off. As it got light I saw that the water was really trashed. Even though I had fueled up...I decided to just stick it out down south of Wabasso as best I could and got lucky.....

The White CAL saved my bacon today...  8:40  &  #104

Since I was done with that I decided to ride and look...and if I saw something nice...I'd fish.  Michael ( topwater guy) caught up with me as I was north of the narrows and we chatted a bit....and then we were off.  I never found anything decent all the way up to Black point....back on the trailer at 9:30

Today, I went to my first spot and while I did see fish...a closer look revealed they were catfish. Luckily, they were not eating plastic CAL's.   Next spot was a surprise and a first for me...back to back Mangrove snapper...good sized one's too. Since we are all set on fish after the snook earlier this week they got released...I probably should not have..but I did. I tried a couple places close by but nothing else.
I started south but as is common this time of year there were some very serious storms rolling in from offshore. I was careful to watch which storms the lightning was in and basically let that dictate where I went. I did get dusted by a few storms...some while the sun burned like a torch...was kinda funny. Anyway, it was pretty much snook a palooza but no great size...biggest was about 23 inches. I also worked pretty hard to secure just that one Trout I needed. My previous low tide spot is now empty...because we are at the last of incoming and the water is way up.
I went to a little grass bar and after watching a few trout come poke at the CAL...I finally secured a decent one and could move on. Next was what I was sure was a Red...but somehow was a gafftop catfish. Several more snook till I was at 11 of them....It was getting late and the water now is high and trashed...I ran north to try a few spots and at the second one...after getting all worked up because just as I got there and pinned on a finger mullet because the water was just inside of my ability to see...clouds come in...Oh come on! I bump one Red and now am a cross between annoyed and discouraged.
I stay in the area till there is a decent break in the clouds and wonder of wonders.......there is a Red 10 or 15 feet away.  I get a quick flip cast...and...

    so...10:40 and that is #105

Tomorrow I will retest the new shirt....a weekend is harder fishing and will let me know if it has any luck or was it just a flash in the pan.

Nice work!  I was down your way on Saturday.  Caught two snook, two trout, five jacks, and a blue fish.  Didn't have a lot of time to hunt the red.  Saw some mullet but no large numbers.  Hopefully this weekend they show!

Today....was aweful.  Two fish.  Started down south of wabasso and got this....

I got a Trout down that way but the water is a total disaster.  I spent 4 hours looking for a Red....and when I saw one...I was not in position to present.  Found some clean water by the inlet...but other than a single large snook and a pair of large jacks...just bait.

Not sure where I will go tomorrow.
