Hot water of the dog days has set in now in mid August, with action slowing a little compared to early summer, but still fish to be caught. Last month had good numbers of bull redfish along the channel in Edgewater and New Smyrna, best chance of right place, right time, best baits is outgoing tide, small live crabs or live pigfish baits. Here a few landed on my boat between 38" and 44"...............

I'm not out on the flats as much now days, with the loss of so much sea grass and lower numbers of skinny water fish on the lagoon, but still a few good redfish to be caught sight fishing, is always a fun but challenging choice to try it..............

Most of my time now days spent in the back creeks, channels and holes in Edgewater backcountry, fishing live shrimp, small lures, live finger mullet or pigfish. Always a chance at a few good fish including reds, trout, snook, mangrove snapper, black drum, shovelnose hammerhead sharks. Light tackle always makes it more fun.

Never know what surprises will come to the boat, like this small permit this summer..............
