A visitor to our area Wed 8-8-18

Brown Booby visited our area in Homosassa Bay. Stayed on my boat for a half hour. Normally they’re near the Keys and South.

Cool! I've only ever seen one of those around here before.

That's pretty unusual behavior for a booby. I wonder if it was affected by the red tide down south of us?

At one point I thought it might have been sick, but when I started to move it flew away. Maybe it was looking for a meal, he/she had the wrong boat. I was just playing w/Gulp.

I personally prefer nice tan boobies.

I travel across the Gulf between Tampa and Galveston a lot. I see these birds as we cross. It is interesting to watch them hunt. They’ll hover near the bow waiting for  flying fish to spook, then swoop in for dinner.
I don’t see them land on the vessel so it makes me think something was wrong with your visotor.

Interesting, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one around the Big Bend. Hope it’s ok and cool picture. LOL at Almost Perfect.
