From what an attorney I know told me - government often pays half the land's full value to get an easement - my guess is that varies but haven't heard anything except 1/2 of the value. Good idea Terror but it looks to be a large landowner game. Imagine the set up - person A learns parcel X is a very desired for panthers, water storage etc. ; tells his friend a large landowner or real estate pro; owner goes and proposes developing it or speculator gets ahold of it and does same; agency gets all shook up and offers a bunch of $$$ since they're now sceered the panther won't get it; big bucks pay an artificially inflated value due to proposed development ; person A gets FAT finders fee and the beat goes on and on and on - what a scam - that cat ain't never being delisted and dump this $$$ feeding trough; keep sayin' you want more panthers y'all or maybe get on the gravy trail too.
Carl Hiaasen’s work...... Florida Governor, “ Skink” retreated to Florida Wildlands, wore a tracking collar that emitted signal from time to time. reading this convoluted Thread reminds me of such scenarios.
Hunters are present yet relatively uncommon in Florida :wink
If I ever produce a novel characters will include Governor Desantis, political operative Susie Wiles and a batch of Planners & Consultants, wailing environmentalists, feeble news organization persons,a FWCC Commissioner that owns sizable south Florida acreage, halftrack and airboat enthusiasts,a “ hunter conservationist” that hunts with an Audubon director however the fact that they rent a motel and clean game in the motel tub rather than camp diminishes their effective outreach, and a toll road promoter that smuggles south Florida Cat to north Florida for reasons unknown for a realtively short rime.

For food I great.y prefer deer, but I find hog hunting more fun, guess because I see far more hogs. But like cyclist said....if it was only about the meat....I’d stay home..
It was the RIGHT 5 Acres I'd assume... If I'd have owned 20 acres Highway frontage on State Road 29 where the Cat Fences are I'd be rich..... 50 Ft. by 5 miles .
