great idea to get around California's ban on plastic straws

I'd rather a massive quake hit the state line and the whole state floats into the middle of the Pacific. Unfortunately all airports get sucked into the ground and cliffs surround the new island so no in or out.

Why are y'all even on a sportsman's site … shouldn't you be a on trash the planet site?

I really don't use straws very often as I rarely drink a soft drink if I go out to dinner at a restaurant. Its usually a beer or a glass if wine. If I get fast food, it is usually takeout and I drink water as I always have ice water with me where ever I go. Not sure if this will make a difference in the scheme of things.

I would rather see a ban on mylar balloons as  most of you fisherman know you always see them floating in the waters. Stupid turtles confuse them for  man of wars.

The west, (ie, not asia, africa, or south America) contribute 5% or less to the ocean plastic problem(which is a real problem) but we are not a significant contributer of straws to the ocean... so this is some serious virtue signalling by local politicians.

Our local city government wants to outlaw all styrofoam and plastic including straws. Tried and failed once and are going to try again next year. I have one store inside the city limits so I am watching this to see where it goes.

We use entirely too much disposable fast food packaging.... but there might be better ways to influence the usage. Bans only shift to other methods that may or may not be worse.

Why are you against banning plastic straws in a coastal community? Pinellas is doing it. How is it a bad thing?

Besides, drinking from a straw is unnecessary. And its fallic.
But maybe straw drinkers like that. Dunno

I dont normally use a straw but I do not like government hyperbolic overreach.

Educate the populace on the subject and if restaurants wish then  provide the paper straw option.

Sounds like the septic tank. Might be time to have it pumped out.

The irony of ditching plastic straws which come wrapped in paper with paper straws which come wrapped in plastic.

We have sewers. Expensive sewers. But no septic tanks.

I'll ask again. How is that supposedly conservative 'sportsmen' want to trash our environment?
Or are y'all mostly just poachers who can't or do not want to understand how an eco system works.

What's next setting a forest fire just to PO the greenies?

I would say 90% of the plastic that is trash from myself I dont even use or buy. Rather its included free in my purchase of said product. Plastic packaging has got to go. So much trash is from simply nothing. Why does trash need to be created to purchase or sell something?

Starbucks still gives free plastic straws here.

Nah! Some people are just fun to get a rise out of. They pretty much ask for it by saying ridiculous things and I have a hard time holding my sarcastic side back. Sorry to offend but thanks for adding some humor.

No worry, I don't take this place seriously.

I can't believe that anyone with any sense would.
