Well at least they now know that the brakes work well.

Hope those six lobster were worth it

Not sure if the rear straps would have held in that situation. Given that, even that front stanchion on the trailer is still intact, so it looks like the main tie down wasn't attached.

    That sucks.

A fellow in a hurry to get in the water was getting his boat ready as I was hooking up. He started backing down the ramp and stopped real quick, sending the boat onto the ramp.
I really wanted to take a picture, but he looked highly agitated.
It’s hard to keep a straight face in that situation.

If he had six lobster on board, he better have had a bill of sale for them. Mini season opens Wednesday.

Even if you just had the bow eye secure this would have not have happened.

Good thing it wasn't a roller trailer, that boat would been another 100 yards down the road.

Those Ram trucks have some good brakes. :)

The left bunk looks odd too.

There has to be more to the story than the boat broke loose when the truck stopped. Here is a picture of the boat from the front. Also a link to the fire dept. facebook page. The facebook page indicates it was a multiple vehicle accident. Wonder if someone hit the boat from behind, broke the trailer and sent the boat flying.

If it hadn't gone that far it would have made a nice truck camper with a kitchy nautical theme.

Knew a guy years ago who did this with a speed craft and a Suburban. Guy pulled out in front of him and all he had was a winch cable holding the boat on the trailer. After he got the Suburban fixed  the boat had the cable, and a chain that went from bow eye going back and a heavy duty strap.
I live close to Homestead and Krome ave. Is full of boats headed south. It amazes me when I see all these 100K boats being pulled with 60K trucks going down the road with 12 dollar a pair straps holding the boat on the trailer.

The guide posts on the trailer are bent forward, but I don't really see any damage on the back of the boat. Maybe it was hit from behind, maybe not.

The ladder looks smashed in a bit... maybe the fiberglass acted like a spring.

Must of got hit from behind. I had a sail boat once and it got rear ended by a VW, smashed the hood in and the mast went through the vehicle and almost out the back window. Diver almost lost his pinky finger when the mast hit it on the way through, the winch stand got pushed over but the boat didn't have a scratch on it, just pushed it back onto the trailer, fiberglass is tough.
I saw another accident where a car t-boned a truck with a boat, boat and trailer where standing on end up against a tree, wish I had taken a picture, boat looked okay.

I know someone that did not use straps on rear, it was an I/O and he said too heavy to come off trailer, went around a corner once and the trailer tire hit the curb and ejected the boat right into the middle of the intersection. He uses a strap now.
