SUV top rack?

I just bought a travel trailer and am pulling it with my '99 Ford Explorer and need something to carry my 10' kayak on top without breaking the bank.  I usually carry the kayak in my Ranger truck or in the boat.  I'm old, short and light weight if any of that matters.  Thanks

I've had all different kinds, the J rack worked okay but sucked to load on a hot day. Yakima hully roller was the easiest but it was still hot tying it down. it was easy to lean on the back of my Tahoe but it scratched the paint. Not that your 99 exp would mind.

Thule makes a system that lifts it up for you. I saw it once it was cool but expensive.

I have thule removable crossbars which were for my previous car but still work for my current car (they're fairly universal). They were expensive at first, but I've gotten almost 7 years use out of them, so worth the $. I pad the crossbars with a pool noodle each and lay the kayak on the bars keel-up.
I've got back problems sometimes, so I stuck to lighter kayaks: Hobie Revolution 13 and Compass. Had an outback once, was too heavy at the end of a full day, especially if there was some water in the hull.
