I have a weber that i use for pork chops, hamburgers, shrimp, chicken breasts. I use my egg for boston butt, ribs, brisket and whole chicken and chicken quarters. Also fish on egg.

I always forget about the PK when these discussions come up as ours is at the in-laws beach house. Definitely should be looked at for charcoal briquette use.

There are many fantastic and expensive grills available. The OP stated he would prefer to keep it under $300.00. You cannot drive a Rolls on a Chevy budget. The Weber would satisfy his needs and he can still afford to buy an aftermarket smoker kit and a cast iron searing grate.

It's ok Conchydong, if it helps others looking for more high end options, it's all good.
I'll probably go with the Weber, can't go wrong there. I hope I can fit some cast iron grates in there.
By the way, my second drip pan rusted out on my Dyna Glo. Unless a cookie sheet pan will fit in there, I'm done grilling for a while. Stay away from Dyna-Glo.
Just keep it out of the rain and it will last for years, by the way in need an old weber with the legs rusted out for my urban fire pit, if anyone has one they are tossing out.

That Acorn is interesting. I watched the video though, and that meat did not look like it was cooking very well. LOL, seriously check it out. You'd think they'd make sure the meat looked like it was cooking well. I am sure the grill does better than that, it's just kind of funny to watch.
I'd be concerned about area with that, because after I get the gas grill I want the charcoal grill o have a large area for when people visit. I am still going to check that Acorn out.
I am going to say the Char Griller Akorn as well... Just picked one up this weekend. WalMart has them the cheapest at $288.. Got that, 30lb bag of lump hardwood and firestarters for like $315 out the door...
Set up was easy, through some wings on yesterday and couldn't be happier... Very little charcoal needed, and the fire roars on that thing and it stays hot forever... haha.

I'd think a drip pan would be better built though. It going to rust from the drippings and droppings.
