How many of y'all camp during the season ? Do you prefer tent or campers? I started getting my old camper ready for this upcoming season over the weekend. What do y'all use? Any pics?

That beats a tent all day in my opinion. I’ll camp only if its cooler out. Walked and scouted a spot today and it was freaking HOT! Pulled a few ticks also!...... shower and ac are necessities for me most of the time!

    Bowhunter4life,
I couldn't agree more, when I was younger I would tent camp anytime no matter how hot it was. I guess we get wiser with age. Although I still do a duck hunting camp on the St. Johns river in November and sometimes it hot, but have the river to cool off in.

If I'm hunting more than one consecutive day, I've been solely tent camping.  Gotta use an inflatable mattress cause my back and the ground don't agree anymore.  Won't do it unless it's reasonably 'cool' out either.  On hot days, I'm just stuck getting up WAY early to drive an hour and a half, before I hike an hour.  For just a day of hunting.  Hard to do that days in a row.

At some point, I'll have to get a camper.

Currently using and old camp trailer with an ac and generator. It has a good bed and sleeps me warm or cool depending on the need. I just need to rig an outside shower assembly with hot water to make it perfect. If anyone has a DIY shower they recommend-I'm interested. Even a store bought one would be good.

I bought a propane instant heater and rigged it up to a 12 volt pump. It came with a removable shower head. 55 gal barrel of water.  This year I put a tee in it and ran hot and cold to a normal shower valve so a person could tame the heat.  Turkey season people sure enjoyed taking a good shower and not having to worry about having to use just a trickle of water.  It is amazing how many barrels of water a camp can go thru.

In addition to heat/ac and bedding desires I also factor in the added desire to sleep with my wife, and that I enjoy more than a little extra sleep.

Buy a portable tankless water heater.

Eccoptemp L5 would do it. $112 on Amazon.

For a long time it wasn't hunting unless I was camping also.  Mostly duck hunting on Lake O, primitive camping.  Now I mostly camp while Turkey hunting, don't Deer hunt much.

Campers can be hot.  Tents are cooler. If you can get off the ground on a cot you will be cooler (or bone shaking cold if a front comes through). Sleeping in a hammock is cooler too but Im not used to it. I have used a Redneck AC in a tent during Turkey and it works well.

As far as showers, if its cold I dont need one for a weekend. If its hot Ill take a cold one or jump in the nearest body of water.

Yes TRT - the rough hunts camping are some fun memories. Sweating profusely on stand, exhausting walks and stand setups, biting bugs of all types, thunder storms, wet combat boots, bathing in a creek, eating out of cans, pump up stoves and lanterns, canvas tents, cleaning game with a flashlight... "big grins even today when we get together and reminisce".  Oh to be in that stage of life again... Thank God the passion to hunt is still burning brightly!!
