Looking for hunting lease near Ft Myers

BaccalaBaccala Posts: 198 Deckhand
Looking for a lease, I don't plan on renewing the one I've been on for years as I do not like the direction it has gone. I also have about 6-8 other members that will pay up to 40k combined for a good property.

if someone has 1 or a few openings in swfl let me know. I only really start to hunt in December and stop after spring gobbler.

Totally self sufficient and big on conservation.

I saw an add on hunters network for a Babcock lease. Price seemed very very reasonable

That's the lease on coming off of, if you just want pigs then it's a good lease. A few of the older retired members practically live on it and the game is non existent from them driving around so much. Plus they put up feeders everywhere. Just not my type of hunting. I don't mind going a year or so either without one as I'll just have to plan on going to Kansas instead.

caught some great hogs at night on babcock...all the way up until my buddy went to work at another ranch. Anyone paying big money to hunt there is crazy

Babcock has all the hogs you want and also some other great hunting as long as the other lessees in your group do not f it up. I killed my share of bucks and does and the turkey hunting was off the chart till two members that are retired started living out there and driving all over the place. They literary screwed the whole place up as the game left or went nocturnal. One of them holds the lease and the god complex set in as it was his lease and he was letting us be members. wasn't like that in the beginning. real shame how it turned out but I had a ball with my boys while it lasted. Like I said if I find something great if not then I am going to travel this year and hunt. I own 40 acres that has a pretty good turkey population on it and could probably bring in a buck or two but do not hunt it and don't think I will. If I need to shoot then I am all set as I have a range out there. Something will turn up as I'm not shy to pay a good price either

We really didn't have a problem with panthers, coyotes yes and a few Bobcats. When we first got on we elected one of the guys to be the lease holder to represent us all, well that went right to his head and he considered it his even though we all paid the same amount. The lease itself was great the first year, a lot of game and fun hunting then we noticed it starting to decline well next thing you know him and his buddy which they are both retired were out there all the time just pressuring the hell out of the place, well the game just disappeared , went to the leases next door. Tried talking to them but it was like talking to the wall.

All of us left except for the two of them and I hear they are already having problems with their buddies who are the new members and are out there just as much them because they are retired too. These guys also had to pay a lot more then us because of less members. Wait till they realize they paid for a pig lease. The good thing is its a tier two lease and it will become available next year as will others. They randomly pick so good chance of getting on one of them again. Like I said if I can find one great if not then I'm going to do some trips I've been putting off.
