    Put yourself in their shoes. A well thought out point is better received than a long diatribe. Think - this is a first meeting of many future meetings.  You want them to wonder who you are and to remember you the next time. Some folks get the wrong kinda tag on them out of the gate and never gain needed credibility. Remember most of them are new at being an FWC commissioner as well. Hope it goes well as you've definitely made some good points on the forum.
    Yet they refuted the science and Fwc recommendations to support the fruit and nut crowd......

    Actions speak much louder than words.

    Going against biological science and staff recommendations was wrong. Sadly politics won out that time. A big problem is the outcome greatly empowered  the anti hunter crowd. The other issue is we may not have any media reporters that care about science or factual reporting. Gonna be tougher the next go around...

    N. Cook said:
    You think the animal rights group was there at this meeting...just wait....the bear hunt will bring bus loads...most of this group of Commissioners have not experienced a true dust up....there can be close to 100 speakers on bear and panther issues....90% anti hunting "animals are like people" types...
    Can anyone give me any dates of past meetings where these turnouts have happened?  I'd like to research arguments being made.

    @N.Cook, sent you a PM
    There will never be a really free and enlightened state until the state comes to recognize the individual as a higher and independent power, from which all its own power and authority are derived.

    spangler - just google "florida bear hunt protests" (googling topics of interest is part of research) and you'll have a few months of material to research or call FWC to get dates of bear hunt issue meetings and look them up on "The Florida Channel" video archive or just take folks (e.g. Newton Cook) word that anti's are a serious force to contend with, they understand social media mobilization techniques, they are not afraid to lie and misinform their followers to incite them to participate against whatever their current issue is and expand the sharing of their message by including unrelated issues claiming they are related to their current issue at hand. Good luck on the research.

    An example is when Commisioner Sole speaks at 1hr - 04 min- 00 sec at the June 19, 2018 FWC meeting part 2 - https://thefloridachannel.org/videos/6-19-18-florida-fish-wildlife-conservation-commission-part-2/  . As he responds to speakers that apparently late to the game (seems as though FWC staff may have missed engaging the spearfishing folks that would be banned from taking a triple tail by being banned from taking them in federal waters which is legal now) while allowing fishermen to have at them in federal waters. Apparently Mr Sole a former FDEP head man thinks folks should be assumed guilty of rule breaking from the get go so let's ban them as a way to be "thoughtful" as we manage. Scroll back from time stamp to 53 min 45 sec to see previous 2 spearfishing speakers to get full context related to Mr Sole's comments and his rejection of data out of hand.

    More June 19, 2018/part 2  FWC meeting news nobody has reported to the folks to be impacted yet -  OBTW hunters that supposedly represent Florida hunters and some of which are Deer Management Technical Advisory Group (dmtag) members also explained how they support charging elderly and/or youth hunters for a hunting license via (nominal fee not full price) the speakers referred to this as a participation fee. Reasons for doing it is to enable to pick up 8 dollars a head they can't get now under Pittman Roberts. While data I saw recently establishes that most hunters age out of hunting around 65 one uninformed speaker stated that ALL the baby boomers are still out in the woods. Not so much a $$ matter but a lot about transparency of those funded by hunters to speak on behalf of hunters. Truth in advertising - I am over 65 and have a non-financial interest in this but my main interest is that currently I contact FWC when I want to not the reverse. Meeting link again -   https://thefloridachannel.org/videos/6-19-18-florida-fish-wildlife-conservation-commission-part-2/  around 30 min - 00 sec into video  for one of 3 or 4 speakers and at 1 hr - 27 min - 00 sec for another.

    Will start a new thread "Bad Ideas Never Die in Florida" for another topic some of the uninformed may have an interest in brought up by some during public comments at the end of the day this June 19, 2018 FWC meeting. Always want to stay to the end if attending FWC meetings otherwise there's no tellin' what one could miss.
