long key bridge

hello everyone,


I am going this weekend to long key bridge. does anyone know which bait is best to use there? freeline or weight? going for hopefully some permit and tarpon.

    I assume you are aware that permit cannot be harvested 
    in the Keys from April 1, to July 31

    For those 2 you might need different rigs. I would think a small crab or a live pilchard would work well. Or a big dead chunk on the bottom

    Both methods work. Big dead chunk at the bottom will give you a shark. But using a crab.... once in awhile will get you a shark as well.

    I think im going to try the pilchard at the bottom

    Get a pier net too if you want to release them with a chance of survival.

    Then long key is not the bridge for you if you want to catch and release poons safely. Not that it cant be done, but that ****  will be thrashing as you bring it up and on the bridge  net and bridge nonstop.  Permit, not a problem
