An 8 y.o. black kid helps an elderly white woman up the stairs & it makes National news.  Pretty pathetic IMO.

The kid was raised right. What's pathetic about that?

A good story that we should see more of in this dysfunctional, cup half empty world we live in.

Great story, and how the world should be.

Onviously, it made news because the boy was black and the woman was old and white... The fact that the news highlighted this tells us the sad state our world is in

It's pathetic that what should be common courtesy makes national news.    I help older people all the time especially at curb store gas pumps mainly when I see they have a hard time walking.

Are they showing a child helping an elderly woman, OR

A black child helping and elderly white woman?

The media sensationalizes this, thus perpetuating the myth that blacks are all violent criminal thugs.  They don't want things to change because it is bad for business.

You're probably right but I have a doubt.
Probably it made news because a well educated and respectfully boy is a very rarity nowadays.

No, they are not a rarity. The number of white, black, oriental, Hispanic and other well educated, respectful young men far out number the ones who aren't.

In this world of negativity we just focus on the bad ones to the point we end up thinking they are in the majority.

Things aren't bad.  To the contrary, things are quite good.

Most people that fail to come to that realization get their news and viewpoints from cable "news" (no matter the side), whose intent is to enrage and whose goal is clicks (and eyes) rather than objective truth.

And they fall for it hook, line, and sinker.

    Don't be a sheep.

Really starting to enjoy TerminatorX's current string of post.  Very refreshing. Gives me a reason to read and enjoy the "Off Topic" again.  Side note - Still can't figure why many of the forum "lefties" are so adamant  about keeping their true names and locations totally anonymous though :o:D .   Keep them up "T-X".  Still giggling :) .

I can't watch more than about ten minutes of news from any network before I turn it off. You can get the news straight, but it takes some searching. All the major networks spin what they report at least to some of extent.

I know the birth rate dropped way off, American Women are not having as many children. Of course the reasons are obvious....
And then things like this : https://www.news4jax.com/news/son-speaks-after-father-arrested-in-attack-at-st-augustine-mcdonalds
Have to feel for all involved. Jon Smith is a good man, he did not mean to do this, his emotions got the better of him. Not hate, but just frustration in the way things are... Sad///

I saw this on our local news yesterday. A bystander gave the kid $100 for helping the elder lady.

I'm not getting into the argument of "why it was aired" but I will say the kid did good and his parents should be proud.

I'll bet you like TermintorX's posts, but who is keeping their true name and location totally anonymous?

Certainly not me.  I've posted my name more than once and it's no secret I live in Tampa (Carrollwood Village in fact).  I'd be happy to share my name with you directly if you'd like -- just send me a PM and I'll happily share it.

Can TerminatorX (or you or any of the "conservatives" for that matter) say the same?

And if not, who is hiding behind anonymity?

    Just curious...>Mike

You are a curious guy - when the day comes that ALL are required to have their name and home city in their bio I'll be happy to add mine - may add it now - we'll see how this concludes.  It is in the Charlotte Sun every few months or so when a letter to the editor of mine is printed.  Why the PM only revelation?  Just hit us with it.  Other than being the forum's condescending patronizing know it all you seem to be just a typical lefty that just can't get over HC's defeat and would be happier in Canada or someplace that doesn't have a "2nd Amendment problem".  Of course that is just IMO and I have that same opinion of other forum mystery men.  Still betting if a no anonymity rule went into place on FS this forum would pretty much shut down.  BTW - that is my actual picture on the avatar and it is/was in multiple post over the years.

Sincerely - John Simpson, North Port Florida (see that wasn't hard - just like jumping into a cold pool - after you've done it it isn't bad).  I KNOW a few on here that will always hide behind internet anonymity and may have just peed their pants thinking about being actually accountable for their left wing nonsense.

Screw them.  Hiding behind an anonymous user name and continually insulting others is no better than a group of teenagers making crank phone calls (my generation).  Worth little more than comic value.

I did change the family e mail address to my personal e mail address on the bio page.  The wife doesn't need to see this dribble.
