Redfish Pass

I'll be in Sanibel with a 27' boat and and want to fish Redfish Pass.  Can I anchor up along the South Seas side without much risk of losing an anchor or is the bottom pretty unforgiving in that area?

A lot of boat traffic there and most guys tend to troll along the shoreline

It's mostly sand in that area and I think it's highly unlikely you'll lose an anchor there.

with the current running pretty hard thru there, and the amount of boat traffic, drifting is prob ideal.

The unwritten rule of redfish pass is to drift.  If you try and anchor, you will get some angry looks from other boaters.  If it's your first time fishing the pass, it is best to take a minute and watch the other boaters and how they do it before jumping in and cutting off someone else's drift.

I was there from 5th May thru 18th May and people were anchoring all the time. Didn't seem to cause any problems.

Thanks for the inside information.  This is my first time fishing Captiva, any suggestions as to where to find white bait?

Look for white bait along the beach. Pinfish can pretty much be chummed up on any grass flat up in that area.
