Mako 282

looking to repower my 2000 282 mako, currently have 2000 225 optimaxs’. Was wondering if anyone on here has any experience with the makos and 4 strokes. I know they are heavier and being my boats max hp is 450, was curious if they had to reinforce the transom or anything else. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Tank if your going to repower make sure and
go with 4 strokes.I have 2200 hours on my Suzuki
300s.I would have thought your Mako would be rated
for more than 450 HP.Good luck shopping.

Just repowered my Anacapri with Yamahas. It's a very heavy boat as I've done extensive work on it. Got 20 years out of my Yami 2 strokes, and the pair of 150 four strokes I hung on it are apparently stronger. I'm very pleased with the fuel usage and performance.

The new mercury 4 stroke are as light as the old 2 stroke. They only go up to 225 so your in luck but I saw weight at around 500 pounds. They were just released so you might have a hard time getting them.
