snook in dominican republic reccomendations

Going to casa de campo in june, near la romana.

looking to go snook fishing in the river / beach. offshore trips cancelled every time due to bad wind - just bad luck.
 this seems safer bet.

any recomendations for a guide? or what to bring and where to go? i hear chavon river is good but no idea what / where that even is.

i dont mind climbing thru jungle if i have a guide, sounds fun really. or a small boat. just want to have some good clean fun and catch a fat snook or two.

any ideas? thanks
