Quepos Costa Rica fishing charters

WHISKEYTRAINWHISKEYTRAIN Posts: 103 Deckhand
Hey guys,

headed down to Costa Rica (quepos) soon and was looking into a fishing charter. Read good reviews about jp sportfishing, but it looks like it could be a “touristy” operation. Many recent reports on their website show only one sailfish per trip and that seems like it would be a long 9 hour trip with one or two fish.  Still debating on whether to go offshore or inshore. I guess I would rather go with which ever has the most action. Anyone have any good recommendations for reasonably priced offshore and onshore charters. If inshore, I would like to target roosterfish.

thanks for any advice

My advice? This is a politics forum. Take you fishing questions to GON.

Was a little south of Quepos in Dominical a few weeks ago, but not sure of anybody great in that area.

If you still aren't getting a good feel with the above recommendations, there's a really good charter a few hours south in Panama. Called Panafishing. Owners are French, but speak great English.

I did the "internet" research thing and I would advise you to be wary.  I got a boat that was in dis-repair, broke down during the trip and lost 2 hours of fishing time, and then thought I was a sucker and trolled around rocks saying we were bill fishing.  Needlefish are not billfish.  Then there were signs on the boat detailing the expected tip amount.  Most "boats" are run by former deckhands and mates and their lack of captaining skills shows.
