Mahi off of Boynton Inlet

Just moved to SFL from St. Augustine. Was able to make my first fishing trip last Sunday, 3/24/18. Trolled the area while learning / studying structure on my electronics. Noticed the reefs were busy with boats and most the seaweed looked bad. I then moved away from everyone and began looking for floating debris. Located some in about five hundred plus feet of water. Made two passes on it and then got hit hard. As I pulled the Mahi closer to the boat I noticed others were following. It then became a field day. I think I'm going to love it down here! I attached a pic of one of the juveniles.

Awesome job Welcome to The Forum thanks for the report keep it up. We do really good in April with Dolphin around here

You found some schoolies.  Nice.  They can be hit & miss, but when they hit, it's almost always a good time.

Schoolies are a great greeting to south Florida! I'm from Jax Beach & I've been down here for about 5 years now. I love it! I know there is a lot more pressure on the fish here but I'm happy as hell NOT making a 50 mile run to catch a couple green fish!

Schoolies suck!  My dad (95 years young) tells me stories of running into schools of dolphin 60+ years ago where all the fish averaged 15-20 lbs, with the occasional bigger one thrown in.  He'd get 1,500 - 2,000 lbs in a short time and head in.  No ice, no box, just a ton of fish on the deck.  What a mess!  I don't think I could handle all that blood.
