Should Citizenship Matter in a Census?

Asking the question would not reflect the legal immigration status of anyone. The question would simply be "Are you a U.S. citizen" It would not ask if you were a legal or illegal resident. Some of you are making this into something it isn't.

Non citizens should not be used for congressional apportionment, Certain federal dollar allocations would include non citizens.

Then why is California suing the Federal government to not have the question on the census?

I don't know, It was on the long form until 2010 when the long form was discontinued. My guess is they are afraid they will lose money and a house seat, It would only effect about 7 states with a high immigration population. There are 12 states joining a lawsuit over the question,

EVERYONE needs to be counted. If not, areas with lots of non-citizens will not get the federal funding needed by the feds for all sorts of things that affect everyone's daily lives.
So more non citizens = more federal money.

    Gotcha.
Come on people, this is your country you should know how it is run. Stop playing like some idiot faux "news" shill.

NOT MORE MONEY, just proper DISTRIBUTION of money.
How much money should average illegal alien expect?
The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles.

Don't really matter, most illegals won't fill out a census or talk to a census worker anyway.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you

I don't see why this needs to be done at all.   There is more than enough data mining and social media out there for a pretty accurate estimate of the population.   all those servers that are buried in some mountain in the northwest saving emails, texts, snapchat weenie pictures and chicks with dog noses and ears.

I'm sure a pretty simple algorithm could be put in place to estimate population based on cell phone pings.   Yea some people have burner phones and multiple phones, but that could also be factored into the equation.

All this big brother tech inside your house, listening to everything you say and do, and they still expect me to believe they need to come door to door to figure out who's living where?  Not buyin it
You would lose the people who are not online. Elderly and poor. They are the ones that need assistance.
I don't know any poor people who don't have cell phones.    Or elderly.  And i know quite a few of both.    The elderly could easily be counted as they all file for social security and medicaid or medicare or whatever.    The poor all have cell phones.

You should have to turn in a completed census form to be able to vote in the next election.

Everybody seems to be focused on voting and money, however,
Census is used for lots of things...

"At national level census information is used to plan the provision of health care, education, employment, transport, etc. It is used to help determine where to build new schools, roads, health care facilities, child-care and senior centre. The Census is also an important economic tool."

There is also an effort during the census to gather information from homeless people. Having a good accounting of how many people live where seems to benefit all of us. The best way to get a good accounting is to not scare anybody away in my opinion.

The number of non citizens should have NOTHING to do with the taxpayers cost for education,  healthcare or any other activity that requires tax payer dollars.

The only relevant use for that info should  be the cost to remove the illegal members if that group from the nation,

Here's a clue, you can't vote in federal elections unless you are a legal citizen. Indoctrination or whatever.
    Vote for the other candidate
