Wabasso South 19 Mar 2018

19 March 2018...Wabasso/Grand Harbor/Johns island...Missed another Family Slam, Trout and Little Ugly no problem.  Reds nowhere to be found.  Started at Hobart Landing.  Trash can city, Ladies Cats and Jacks.  Low water, made the run to Grand Harbor.  Good clearance under the bridge.  Loaded with Jacks and Ladies.  Working the Mangroves, something crashed bait behind me.  Watched, 3 Tarpon chasing bait, could not get a taker. Between the boat traffic and eco tours, spoil islands not fishable.  Schools of short Snapper on the flats North of Loggerheads channel, no slots.   Moved to the Estuary/Tween area, slow,a couple of Jacks.  Bonus, spotted a big black stick back in the Mangroves, familiar picture, wasn’t there last week.  See this a lot at the Vero power plant, fish usually very active.  Pitch the Vudu Vixen back into the next pocket next to it.  Rocket shot, good solid hit.  2 jumps and gone.  Tarpon over 30 inches.  Johns Island, 4 low slot Trout.  Biggest Trout for the day, 18 inches.  Spooked another big stick.  Only thing that was really active, Hardhead Cats.  Spotted a baby Goliath under one of the docks.  Pine Island, Little Ugly and finally broke into the Snapper slot, catching 9 inches plus all day.  Pulled one off of the pilings, 12 inches.  Snook, scarce today, boated 2 and ran over a pair of just under slots.  All players released for future encounters.
