FPI this weekend

Decided to take a couple of days and make the drive down from NC to have a nice weekend in clear water. Hopefully the storm doesn't mess that up too much .  I don't have the opportunity to fish in FL too often and am just looking to have some fun and have a chance at a snook. Planning on renting a kayak and fishing the channel by the FPI state park and drift live baits at a chance at snook.  Otherwise I figured I could pitch shrimp around the mangroves of the state park for snapper and trout.  Possibly catch some blues and Jack's running in the surf?

Any other suggestions I would appreciate it.  just looking to have a nice calm fishing weekend. Thanks!

That is not the worst plan.  If the weather is nice there might be a lot of boat traffic tho.  You could try up around round island or putting in a little jim and heading to the islands to the north.

Also, our water is not clear right now.  Its not brown either, but not the clear of summer time.

The north beach right along the rocks is always good at sunrise. You need to be a member to get the padlock code so you can enter early. The membership is good at all state parks in Florida. $60 year

Wanted to share how the trip went.  We were planning on renting a kayak but ended up booking a night snook trip with Captain Jon of Colossal Catch: The Reel Experience so didn't spend addition money renting the kayak.  But the guide was worth every penny.  He had us on fish from sunset to the end of the night and even kept us out an hour longer than normal trying to hook into a monster.  Very glad we decided to do that as I normally don't book guides, but will book with Captain Jon any time I am in the area in the future.  Other than the night trip we fished during the day from Dynamite Point and caught some bluefish on cut mullet primarily at the top of the incoming tide.  Enjoyed the beach and golf and look forward to visiting the area again.  Y'all have a great area that isn't overrun with tourist and we enjoy visiting and staying on the water.  Tight lines!
