Need help with line type and size

Headed down in July with our own boat for the first time fishing on our own. Going to hire Piner for a couple days and then try it solo. What type and weight of line and leaders do you guys use for Black Fin and Mahi. Plan to troll for both and also pitch cut bait for the Mahi. Thanks for any advice.

    Whatever he suggests, do that!

40 - 50 lb braid on 6500 spinners for pitch bait
snap swivel to attach 2' section of mono/fluoro with hook (have extras rigged up)
30 - 50 lb mono on your trolling rods
I use braid backing and mono topshot to increase the amount of line

Good suggestions... I recommend good brands as well. Mono- momoi, or berkley pro spec. They last and have low memory. Braid- I use Kastking, I like it so much that I honestly cannot recommend another- even though there are other good ones.
