Chomping Right Under My Nose

I've always driven I-95 or the Turnpike and wanted to pull over and fish some of those retention ponds or canals. I finally made up my mind and went this weekend with a friend. Just a long skinny canal between I-95 and some strip malls. No telling how many thousands of cars passed us while we were out there for about 5 hours. The final verdict: more than 100 bass between us, the biggest being about 6 pounds with a lot of 2-, 3- and 4-pounders mixed in. Senkos and flukes all day long.

The point is (and I'm not huge on imparting lessons), this is Florida and ANY body of water potentially holds fish. And a lot of them are easy to get to with just a little looking. It doesn't have to be Lake Ida or Lake Okeechobee to put up a quality day.
