Money magazine has ranked St Augustine as the #1 place in Florida to live. Hmmmm
Sure there are good places there and it's quaint, but the best?

Doesn’t seem like a stretch. Another post said Florida is the worst place to live.
That makes St Augustine the best of the worst.
I like St Augustine. Don’t know about living there, though.
I'm in St Augustine at the moment. Every once in a while when I have time I drive over by the fort and walk around. It's a pretty place, not sure I'd move here from Sarasota though.

I'd rather have the traffic of St Augustine over Sarasota, but of all the places in Fla i'd like to live in the Dunedin area
Give it a lil time that will change. As fast as they are putting up neighborhoods and apartments they will suffer the fate as everyone else in the state. Once upon a time, just a few years back it was a quiet cozy area to live and visit, but that is quickly coming to a close.
Please stop derailing my thread.

I spend a lot of time in St. A but live in Jax. I looked at moving there, but very few places to rent in St. Augustine especially after two years of hurricanes...even FEMA commented on how scarce rental properties were...so rents are...yes...Too **** high!
i was up in Jacksonville today and told someone about the Money magazine rating and he said "Money must never have seen St Augustine after a rain storm, because the whole place floods"
That may be a bit of an exaggeration, but he has a point, I've been there after the rain and there was a lot of standing water
I remember when we would drive onto the beach at Matanzas, surf fish, drive up the beach to Anastasia fish and have lunch and drink beer. Do that today and your probably going to jail!
Since its "Money" magazine, the absence of state income tax might have something to do with it. There are a lot of Real Estate ventures to involve yourself with as well.

I have family in st aug, and visit often. The uncontrolled growth over the past 10 years is astounding. The city is very very cramped now. Still beautiful place, and very unique city. Luckily, the downtown area cannot build anymore, but the crowds will only get worse.
I guess that's the case for most of the state tho...
My daughter has been there 10 years, first as a student at Flagler, now a teacher. She loves it. I wish I had bought a house there 6-8 years ago. Prices keep going up and up and up.
Cool to visit.... not sure about living. Wouldn't doubt that development is at a breakneck pace right now. Beginnings of a mini bubble?

Saint Augustine isn't even good enough to hold Debary's jockstrap.
That's where my 1st wife was from. So not much any good comes from there.

Mostly it’s people fleeing Jacksonville.
St auggy
Aka south Jacksonville.
Wide area from beach to the river.
Massive growth now south and west.
Traffic going to be bad in out Jacksonville.
Huge development east 95 on 207 underway.
If you work close the south beaches best place to live.
Not much lower income and tourist stay in old city.
Some developers building massive rentals soon to be projects east of 95 south of beltway.
Not good for housing prices and demographics about to change.
Seen that happen in Melbourne south last 8 years.
Look for more foot traffic and debris at bus stops.
