In the you can't make this <Stuff> up catagory OR Things that make you go HUMM
Forget about immigration policy, homeland security, UFOs and such. Let’s think about how our government considers and labels daylight saving time (also known as exception time). Don’t you think it is odd to call the other time standard time when in fact, standard time only lasts for three months versus nine months for daylight saving time (or exception time)? Only our government could come up with this sort of naming convention. That is, standard time inferring the norm by its’ name lasts one third of the duration of non-standard time.

Umm... it lasts 4 months, not 3. Stoopid Deckhand!
Why do we do this again?
Shoot I was counting the months Mar-Nov. Do I get some relief from KP duty for that?
It saves energy.

@cadman I'd like to see some kind of proof of that because I don't believe it for a second.
Which study you want? The one that says it saves energy or the one the says it doesn't?

There are many others with inconclusive results. The reason we did it was to save energy. there is no proof it does or does not.

LOL! That's what i kind of figured. I think it's so congress can get 18 in after "work" during the summer months personally.
Good grief you Admiral's and above are missing the whole point of a simple deckhand's random thought. I was simply talking about the naming convention by our government experts.
If I intended to start an energy debate I would have said something like:
I was at this convention and Al Gore said...
FUBAR...
Stop swabbing for a minute. You see, standard time is the time that the entire world follows. Daylight savings time is a tweak that we do every year. In reality DST is just a fake time. This could all be avoided if they didn't change the time and instead every spring everyone just did everything an hour earlier.
Too easy, you know the government would not go for that!
What’s scary about the whole issue is that a lot of people actually believe that you increase the amount of daylight by moving the clock!!
I'd call you a liar but I know you're 100% correct. My wife had a girl come into the bank she works at and swear the bank took 130 bucks from her. There is a button on her online banking that has saving goals. so she clicked save $130 as a goal.. then came in pissed it didn't show up in her account. So my wife had to spend an hour explaining how saving money works. And she knew at the end of that conversation the girl still believed the bank stole 130 bucks from her.
It is standard time because it was there 1st.
Best answer except it's non-standard now...
I’m saving a ton on candel’s
Whale oil man, get it right!
New lamps for old
I'd prefer standard time all year. I enjoy having more day light longer after work. Getting dark at 6p sucks...
As for the names...... who knows.
Im with ya!! Hate coming home from work and not have light to do things around the property.
i put the bong down years ago maybe i should get one again
We're actually on standard time right now. It's the spring forward time when we go on daylight savings time (or exception time) that it's brighter later at night. But it is anyway because of the earth's rotation. It would just get dark at 800 instead of 900
That would be DLS time, not standard time.
I was aware of that... I was responding to the fact of Sun being out to a later time.
the sun doesn't come out at a later time, we assign a different time as to when the majority of people in a geographic area can see the sun in respect to their proximity to the horizon
freaking flat earthers
I understand. As the forum police I will let you off with a warning.
Time don't change.
It still gets dark when the sun goes down.
Happens every day.
Clocks change constantly.
Didn't I see somewhere that Florida was thinking of making the whole state eastern time?
That one likely won't go any place, but there are two bills to put Florida on permanent Daylight Savings Time with no clock switching.

Actually it's Daylight Saving Time instead of Daylight Savings Time. No S in there.
I just noticed the light grey background. A lot better on the eyes.
