I am currently hiring for one position, but based on what I've seen here junior I don't think it would be a good fit. I do wish you the best and all of your future endeavors best of luck

Yup, I did. Changed the percentage going into my 401k, and sent the extra to it.

Now we just have to wait and see what changes concerning our deductions and we will know if there is a net gain or loss.

Should be a net gain for 99% of the people.

No change. But it didn't go down so that's a good thing.

Government aside i'll turn cartwheels once my daughter graduates college and gets her degree. Then we can stop paying her car insurance, cell phone bill, health insurance. That will be a nice $300 a month back in my pocket.

I sincerely hope she did not major in basket weaving. Not much hiring in that field.

forensic accounting. She has a job waiting for her that will pay her more out of the gate than I make right now. Which isn't saying much, but she will have a very comfortable life for herself even in south Fl.

That is awesome, shows she has her stuff together. Congrats!!

Too bad many don't these days, they will be a weight around their parents neck forever.

@sailfish2 Yeah we're very proud of her. She has already interned at the company that wants to hire her full time so she knows what she is getting into. The only problem is the wife wants to move to south FL now to be closer, and I want nothing to do with that. I lived in Boca, i've done my time lol.

I lived in East Fort Lauderdale from 1972 to 2002.

I don't even like to go back to visit anymore. Only time I go to Lauderdale is to go to the Bahamas. You can have it.

You just think you'll quit paying those things I'm thinking. I'm not a parent but know many who are still "helping" their offspring into their 30s.

    Or raising their grandchildren!

  • ParkerboyParkerboy Posts: 7,045 Admiral

There does seem to be a lot of that. I'm always concerned when I see grandparents raising their grandchildren. If their children are incapable, unwilling or just refuse to raise their children it seems to me their upbringing failed so why should I believe they will do better with their grandchildren. I do understand there are unusual circumstances which arise but the majority seem to be drug, alcohol, or just sorry.

Well when you raise em right the first time, there's no need to go back and raise them until they're 35-40 or the grandkids.

She is currently living in an apartment, working full time, going to school full time, and will be doing the internship this summer. When we dropped her off at school I knew she'd never be back home. But when you know that, then you miss em more.

My son on the other hand....IDK. He needs direction. And not directions to a boat ramp or hunting property, or his Xbox one. I love having an outdoors buddy, but he isn't as ambitious as his sister.

That is a pretty good raise considering he probably ends up paying $0 federal tax anyway at tax time. About 1/2 of the tax payers pay 0 - 3%. 1% pays about 40% of the entire federal tax bill. Obviously, totally unfair. Seems like since that is the facts according the govt., lots of people pay virtually nothing and therefore they don't pay their fair share. Every adult should have at least some skin in the game since they do benefit from Fed. Govt. There is no free lunch although lots of people are getting one.

Just got an email from the CEO.

Today, in addition to our quarterly and annual financial results, I’m happy to announce that the recent adoption of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, commonly referred to as “tax reform,” has created an opportunity for us to increase our investments in our employees, communities and facilities. In 2018, we will provide a one-time cash benefit of $*** to every *** employee (except for those who participate in an incentive plan). We are also accelerating discretionary (voluntary) contributions of approximately $200 million for our qualified pension plans, and we are increasing our charitable contributions to the communities in which we live and work.

    I love me some crumbs!
