Bahamas Fly Fishing Report Nov & Dec 2017

RedfishCHUCK tied me a batch of new flies for this trip

Took a new approach and bought a ladder from True Value in Freeport and dragged it with me to my wading spots around Old Bahama Bay

The height enabled me to fish the higher tides as the water was coming in and bringing with it feeding bonefish

Some fish ran outside my casting range forcing me to stalk them

At another spot I found feeding triggers on the shoreline

And this is the only location I have found that you can catch grill size yellowtails from shore on a fly

Mutton Snapper added to the specie count

Those are great fish, and triggers are wonderful to target.
I like the ladder idea. If you learned to use stilts, you could do the same thing and cover even more water.

Stilts are funny and wish I could learn to that.

In the last two years I have worked those flats for hours walking up and down for 1/2 to 3/4 mile in each direction. Then I became conditioned to stand on a rock for two hours at a time as I waited for tide change only to get chased out with high tide. Cant sight fish in waist deep water. The ladder is a game changer for me. Plus I can bring a small cooler of cold beverages :-)

I fine with it all till I saw that trigger...fire up the grill. Snapper are good but triggers...ummmh! Plus that ladder has a built in rod holder.
    Awesome report!

Well done with the ladder. Quite an idea.
