Islamorada Great wahoo and snapper fishing

The last few trips out for us down here in Islamorada have been excellent. We've had some great deep dropping conditions and loaded the cooler the last 2 trips with nice vermillion and yelloweye snapper. The flat calm conditions this week have been great for that type of fishing. Wahoo fishing also always seems to heat up when we have these kind of conditions and we've managed to get some nice wahoo on the last few trips as well. We've caught some high speed trolling and some on live bait. Live pilchards have been the hot bait for us, while I know of a few guys that have had sucess with cigar minnows and speedoes as well. We've also been catching some sails and nice tunas live bait fishing as well. Before the wind laid down and the water cleared up we also had some spectacular patch reef fishing going on. Some really nice muttons biting on the patches when the water was milky mostly on live ballyhoo.
Although the fishing has been great here in the upper keys and everything is pretty much all cleaned up after hurricane Irma the amount of people visiting the Islamorada area still seems to be way off. We're hoping things will pick up in the next few weeks. This is a great time to come down to the keys and take advantage of the very light crowds both on the land and on the water!
