I am from Louisiana and do an insane amount of shallow water (flats and marsh) sight fishing primarily for redfish. I will be making a trip this summer to the Everglades. I'll be in a 17 skiff with 30hp, able to pole in about 4 inches. I'm looking to stay in the back country. I will be down for 10-14 days. What would be the best place to stay- considering top speed of 26 mph (so I don't want any extremely long runs), availability of some basic restaurants near lodging and all back country fishing? I don't have to stay on the water, I'm fine launching daily. I'd like to target snook, reds and potentially tarpon.
Thanks in advance

For a southern 10K base, look at Outdoor Resorts of Chokoloskee - ramp, dockage and basic hotel rooms onsite, also just remodled thanks to Irma. Rooms run $120 a night. In Choko in June you'll have to run back up the causeway to EVC for dinner, not a far drive.
No deepwater marked channels to the outside gulf but its not hard to learn the area if you go slow the first time. And the Wilderness Waterway starts in Choko, great access to all the back bays down to Flamingo that you'll pretty much have all to yourself in the summer months.
Start at daybreak , back to shelter at 2 , relax , nap , hit the water bout 6 pm . It will have cooled off nice.
Sightfishing is not going to be great because of the Tannins outflow from Rainy Season..
FIFY!
The location is great being not far from any ramp in the area leading to back country fishing in enp, Goodland and the swamp marshes.
