Guy probably had 600lbs of kingfish in the bow.

that's only 40 - 15lb fish, not unheard of out of Jupiter, the limit is 50, plus ice,

The guy was only keeping around 10 extra fish a trip. I guess that's all his hiding place would hold.
  • So the inlet flushed a **** down the toilet!

Seeing that footage almost made me throw up...very bad memories of of being 16 miles off marathon in a 22 foot wailer and very nearly stuffing the bow in very bad seas. Terrifying experience, someone was looking out for our stupid **** and I know I have posted this story before but it bears repeating....a fish is not worth dying for. Unbelievably stupid on our part.

    I took the Video
I got there before High Tide wanting to video boats in the Awesome Blue Water but it wasn't clear that day, so since practice makes for better flying I hung out and video-ed some boats further in the Inlet...
When I got bored with that (was cloudy so not good for great pictures or video) I went out to the Jetty to catch boats coming in and or going out (tide was running out by then plus it was Windy)...

Long story short, IMO the boat sank because of a combination of Wave Frequency (distance between waves) vs Boat Length, plus the boat was obviously heavy...
No matter how the boat was loaded or driven (almost) this wouldn't have happened if the waves were farther apart (adding that he was Off-Throttle before the wave surfed him into the swell)...
No pun intended but the Wave Action was Very Fluid IE constantly changing to the point that I would call it Morphing right when and where he was when the bow went under...

The original video of the boat sinking is about 12-minutes long and it's HD...
It would take too long to explain the multiple reasons "I haven't edited or posted it ANYWHERE" yet but here is the Timeline of the Flight/Event...
The time from when I took off to go out and follow the boat in to when it Rolled was 1:12, "he" first got to the jetty/rocks at 2:50, he swam around the end of the Jetty and got on the surfboard at 4:10, his foot first touched bottom at 5:24 (he got off the surfboard at 4:57), it was obvious to me that he was going to make it to Dry Land without falling out from exhaustion was 6:00...

The last 1/2 of the flight/video was flying back out and around the debris which was surprisingly far offshore already, plus I followed a tow boat that went out searching the area outside the Inlet before I came back in to land...
I'll add that I thought it was cool to see that two Fire Trucks were in the parking lot by then as well.

Here's an example of how much sharper the HD video is compared to the "small Low Res video that I shot and posted on my Instagram"...
This image is a small piece of the full-screen video just so you can see how sharp it is compared to the video everyone has seen...

Correct mensies is significant only in his mind. Definitely disregard. To make matters worse he's an ungrateful Euro whining and sucking up free air in this beautiful country. He should instead kiss our ground daily

Well thank you for posting this video...it gives people an idea of what not to do. When we got into trouble turning back into oncoming waves to get back to the land it was the same scenario...waves from behind would shove us down into the trough and water was breaking over the bow of the 22 foot wailer soaking us to the bone. And we were sixteen miles offshore with no boat in sight in a rental boat with one engine...if we had swamped or lost the engine my brother, his girlfriend and I would very likely be dead. The video shows just how quickly a boat can go down giving you no time to retrieve life jackets or calling for help...you can tell people what not to do but seeing it brings it into clear focus. Thank again for posting this. It may save someone's life.

Good wrap up. The video is an eye opener for sure.

And that 13 year old kid who gave up his surfboard to this guy risking himself deserves a medal for helping save a stranger. Cudos to him.
