Ruskin 10/5-10/7

Just flew back to MI this morning, had a great time down in FL and managed some decent fish on flies and light tackle. Last Thursday was a guided trip throwing mostly flies in some obnoxious winds. Caught ladyfish, jacks, and mackerel. Friday we fish on foot and did equally as well on the same species thowing flies under much nicer conditions. Saturday was breezier so we threw metal. The fish weren't there like we had witnessed the day earlier. But on a hunch we tried a mangrove creek and had our best fish of the trip, several nice snook and "baby" tarpon up to 10lbs were hooked on light spin gear. The tarpon owned me. I really wish we had tried this spot earlier in the trip....

The one fish I was surprised we didn't encounter at all was sea trout, as they usually seem pretty easy to catch throughout the entire region.
