Fishing Getting Better

27 Sept 2017...Wabasso South… Another day of 12 packs, short Snapper and Snook. Hit the jackpot on Trout and Reds. One slot Trout at Hobart Landing. Short Snapper and Snook at the Pine Island cut. Had what was probably a Blue cut me clean. Vudu Shrimp are pretty much Puffer proof, but are no match for Cuda teeth. Not much at the Sisters, boat in the best hole, not fishing the hole, but in the middle of it fishing. Shifted plan to the Spoil islands. First cut, Trout rolling on bait, moved after a few slots and a bunch of Snapper. Working the ICW side got a real light tap, wound up being a 22 inch Trout. Moved to the next set of islands. As soon as the Baby Vudu hit the water, Super Mouse Red. Next came a Rat, followed by another. Then a barely legal one at 18 inches. Last one before leaving was 23 inches. Know that you are not supposed to leave active fish, but I had enough fun with them. Last island stop, hooked a Ladyfish and landed a Trout. Did this twice. Smaller fish are pretty much in the current, bigger fish are in the eddy. With a Trout and Red in the camera, went looking for a Flounder for the FWC Slam, no luck. The water at the Estuary is still really terrible, my wife’s coffee looks better. Went all the way through to Johns Island, water too high and dirty to sight fish Sheepies. Out to the bridge, short Snook. Decide to try one of the spoil islands again, same old story short Snapper and Snook. Into the Pine Island mud bay, still hoping for a Flounder, water quality poor. Several small Tarpon rolling. Pulled a 16 inch Silver Prince out of a Mangrove pocket. Stop at Hobart Landing on the way home, pair of barely slot Trout and a barely legal Snapper. Finished the day with 5 Reds, 2 slots, 14 Trout, 7 slots, 1 over. Toomany Snook and Snapper to track. One major problem today was with Needlefish, constantly hitting the Baby Vudu. All fish released for another day.
