Retorque propellers

NitzeyNitzey Posts: 283 Deckhand
Today I retorqued the propellers on my Mercury Bravo III outdrive. I have done this many times and it was not difficult, but it was a pain as I had to do it in the water, with waves slapping at me all the time. The manual says to check the propellers every 20 hours and retorque as necessary. I do not adhere to this recommendation, but I think my neighbors have not done this in 20 years, not 20 hours. Okay, that is an exaggeration, but how much is really necessary? The same thing could be said about a number of other tasks.

that's the problem with stern drives - most people DO NOT perform,or have the maintenance performed....
can we please stop using the word ISSUE ? it's a PROBLEM

I agree. Does one really need a stern drive? A straight shaft is a lot simpler, and with bow thrusters maybe even more maneuverable.
