So this project came out of no where from a buddy I work with at the fire station. A friend of his wasn't so lucky last year when Mathew came through the Sebastian area causing the boat to break free and capsize in the river. After acquiring the title and rebuilding the trailer that I was given for free along with the boat it was time for the fun to begin.
I am looking forward to this rebuild also.. I love watching the transformation from dream to reality.. Really cool!! Although.. this job has more elbow grease than I think I could ever have. LOL!!

Awesome! i am looking forward to watching the rebuild on here. If I still lived in Melbourne, I would offer some help.
I have a buddy who owns a fiberglass shop in another state, and he had a customers hull that lost its "shape" after sitting on a trailer for years without a topcap; that is why I asked originally.

Good luck with the build!
The first project boat I tackled lost the shape as well. But with some ratchet straps and some muscle I was able to get the top cap back on.
With this project I'm going to have I guess you can call ribs going up the gunnel wall like the Ameracats. One rib will houses the fuel fill hose and tank vent. The front deck will also tie into the gunnels. It will be 8' long; I'm gonna have to tie it into the first bulkhead which is 8' back from the top of the bow. It will also have a 2' x beam x 3' fish box along the back side of the front deck. I'm going to entertain the idea of purchasing a kingfish permit.

question: are you going to re-use the top cap? Are you concerned with the hull losing its "shape" with the top cap off?

I'll be re-using half of the top cap. I'm reshaping the lines and the bow is going to be completely re-shaped.

That's great.
I I like the build!
If he made it "pretty enough for you" the guys at the fish house docks would be laughing at him.
