Skeeter 200sx Bay Boat

placidakayakerplacidakayaker Posts: 12 Greenhorn
Does anyone have performance numbers for a late model 2014+ Skeeter 200sx bay boat with a Yamaha F115? Looking at several 2017 models with a Yamaha VF 115, just not sure that is sufficient power. I checked Yamaha's website, but no service bulletin for this set up. Also any other input regarding this boat would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

In my opinion, I would keep looking for another boat. I think that a 20 foot boat needs a 200hp. Otherwise, once that boat is loaded and ready to fish with 3 or 4 people on board. It's not going to perform very well with 115.

The 115 motor has to be turning 5500 rpm to make the 115hp. Now 5500 RPM is within the max throttle limits. Here's the specs: https://yamahaoutboards.com/en-us/home/outboards/115-50-hp/f115

I own the 2006 model with the Yamaha F150 and it has sufficient power however, I would not recommend going anything less than a 150. I love the boat, you will not find any other boat in its class and size that has the durability and fishability that it does. No other 20ft bay boat provides the dry smooth ride that the skeeter does while also retaining the 9 inch draft.

The boat is actually just now up for sale if you are interested in a used boat that has been well taken care of.

Have a 2012 with a Yamaha 115 four stroke. Turn 40mph at 5500 rpm with 3/4 tank of fuel and two 200lb adults. I fish in northeast Florida and with the oyster bars, I use my trolling motor extensively. When I am in the intercostal or off shore I can really appreciate the ride. It seems to step over the chop and is very controllable. The boat is very well put together and I have had boats by Pathfinder, HEWES
Maverick and ProSport. Mine came with trolling motor, powerpole, Lowrance HDS 7 and two baitwells. I am considering upgrading to a Merc. 150 four stroke as I like having the extra horses when needed

Go with the 150 on that boat. You will appreciate cruising at 4500 rpm and close to 40mph. Much better mpgs when the engine isn't close to WOT.
