Austin Texas is a great place to visit!

Visited Austin, Texas for a week. Still love Central Florida but there's so much to do and eat around this awesome city! This was what I did in a day starting lunch at Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken then sightseeing downtown at Graffiti Park on Castle Hill. Took a quick dip in Barton Springs to cool off then a snack at Gourdough's for some epic doughnuts!

That's about to change now that a million displaced Houstonians will flood Austin.

Daughter used to live there. It is a great city.

Did you visit the Capitol building, and eat at Salt Lick?

Yeah we've visited the Capitol on previous visits. Never tried Salt Lick yet but we have done Franklin BBQ and Valentina's .

Stayed there for 2 weeks when I was touring with a bluegrass band.

It's kind of like a giant Gainesville with much worse traffic and far better food and music.

But I wouldn't want to live there.

I was there for a few weeks in the late seventies. Willie and Waylon were still playing around town on occasion.

It was very cool at that time. Not the retro weirdness of today.
