North Korea fires missile over Japan, sharply escalating tensions.

TOKYO/SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea fired a missile that flew over Japan and landed in waters off the northern region of Hokkaido early on Tuesday, South Korean and Japanese officials said, marking a sharp escalation of tensions on the Korean peninsula.

The test, which experts said appeared to have been an intermediate-range Hwasong 12 missile, came as U.S. and South Korean forces conduct annual military drills on the peninsula, against which North Korea strenuously objects.

I wonder Koreans, North or South, still hold a grudge for what the japs did to them in the 30's and 40's.
They had a long history of hatin'.

As they did in 1998 and 2009.

Let's face it, our biggest fear is that one of these self destructing duds veers of course and accidentally blows up over foreign soil. If it does, hopefully it's China or Russia.

China holds the cards. All of the equipment from the missile parts to the launch vehicles comes from China. Let the Japanese and South Koreans posses nukes. And you will see China restrain their petulant kid.

Nuke them hard, and nuke them often!

We have spent trillions of dollars on nukes over the last 70 years and we never use them. What a freaking waste!

Thee will be no nukes, there are enough conventional artillery shells aimed at Seoul to level the city within an hour. That includes the 100,000 American troops and their families there.

Mr. Bannon said, “There’s no military solution here; they got us.”

“Until somebody solves the part of the equation that shows me that 10 million people in Seoul don’t die in the first 30 minutes from conventional weapons, I don’t know what you’re talking about,”

    As we should be.

For what, to get millions of South Koreans, and many American troops and their families killed as Seoul is leveled in an hour by true fire and fury?

Explain to the class just exactly what we're locked and loaded to do?

Blow Pyongyang off the map if it is required. Explain to the class just exactlywhy we shouldn't if he proves to be a credible threat to the US or one of our allies?

So cute that you think there's a military solution here. Did you miss the part about millions dead, including American military and their families within the hour?

Reality has never been the right's strong suit.

Oh, btw, the Trump administration also doesn’t have an ambassador to South Korea currently in place.

But, fear not, we could always bomb them with MAGA hats at $40 a piece.

There are lots of credible threats to the US throughout history. Have you forgotten the Cold War and Mutually Assured Destruction? Do you think all those Russian ICBMs aren't still pointed at us?

There was no military solution for that either, we simply had to learn to live with the threat and we manage it as best we could through diplomacy. So far, so good.

Them's the breaks and the reality.

And the reality is we dealt with reasonably sane people in all those situations. KJU does not appear to be that type of person.

Considering Trump's fire and fury rhetoric, it's an open question as to which leader is reasonably sane.

Because, like I said, reality can be a difficult thing to accept. Like the reality every other President has had to live with since the armistice signed on July 27, 1953. Diplomacy is the only answer.

I'm interested though in hearing about military solutions that many here apparently believe exist.

Walk us through your ideal military scenario.

Yep, China is the only one who can solve this., They are also the military solution. Just remove Kim Jung Un and move soldiers in to keep the peace.

Perhaps, since tensions are so high, it would be wise to evacuate the thousands of service family members out of harm's way.

Should leaders not take their vulnerability into account before the spout out rhetoric about armageddon, or are they expendable?
