Tell me about Blue Marlin Cove!

Gary MGary M Posts: 13,246 AG
I haven't done a Bahamas fishing trip in the old Grady in many years but I'm already looking toward next summer. If I depart out of Hillsboro or the SLI, the mileage is about the same. It will just depend on where the HEY MON! is based at the time.

So, for a guy's fishing trip, BMC looks pretty nice!

Ideally, I'd love to organize a few boats to stay there at the same time as that's always more fun!

What are the pluses and minuses for BMC? I am very familiar with OBB so I know about Clearing in there, getting fuel, Teaser's for conch, etc.

I'll do a Search here to look up Trip Reports out of there but first hand knowledge is always the best!

Thanks in advance!!

BMC is the nicest place on West End. Joe has fuel on site now and will have a customs office some time in the near future as well. I highly recommend hiring Trick Daddy for atleast one day while youre there. He will put you on the fish and the bugs. Ask Carl the dock master and he can get in touch with him.

I was there a few weeks ago. The condo's were nice. The dockage is excellent. The restaurant was uninspiring. The condo's have a washer and dryer which I find very handy to keep the amount of stuff down we carry on my boat. If you are fishing around the corner up towards Memory Rock it does add a few miles to every trip. Entry into the marina is easy and very straight forward. It is in the middle of nowhere so if you are looking to do anything other than going boating/fishing diving it would not be a good destination.

If you plan on staying on the boat, stay in OBB if you have a lager crew and want an efficient condo unit, stay in BMC.

OBB is for when Jenn and I are staying aboard the HEY MON! Lots of fun and a few long Reports from us from past Trips.

Have done a few Guys Trips to Bootle in the past.

Sounds like a trip maybe next summer to BMC with a good crew (and maybe another boat or two) could prove to be a fun time!!

    Thanks!

We stayed last summer and the crew is unreal. So nice and helpful. The rooms are very nice. We got the 2 bedroom unit. Carl is the man!

I agree. Carl is like family away from home. We have stayed there 9 times and do not have any complaints. Safe and clean. We leave everything on the boat and never have any problems.

I know someone with a boat that would probably go if the schedule works out.

Maybe we could get our little buddy to go. He can go with you since he's never thrown up all down the side of your boat yet! :puke
