UPDATE: 2017 bay scallop season postponed due to naturally occuring algae bloom. The harvest of clams and oysters has also been closed by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and it is generally advised to not consume any shellfish, including pen shells, from the bay until these species are reopened. There's more than a few miles involved here, not just a few feet in a pool. Especially all the way from PSJ to Hernandez Beach. Do you stop bottom fishing when the red tide is somewhere besides your immediate area? If the other areas were affected, FWC would have closed them also.
