I used to fly a lot to visit my father in TX growing up, and I clearly remember everyone getting dressed up to fly.
It used to be a big deal. What happened?
A lot more slobs now.
I always wonder the intelligence of people getting on a airplane wearing sandals, flip flops and shorts.
An emergency egress would be pure hell wearing stuff like that.

Same thing that happened to people going in for Jury Duty. You use to wear a tie and jacket if you got called to jury duty. Last time I got called, one guy was in there in pajamas. Judge didn't say anything, I thought he should have gotten a contempt charge for it.
Thank goodness for Southwest. They still have enough leg and hip room for me and I am 6'3'' and 250#. I fly them twice a month.
^this post answers all. If more people flied southwest, other airlines would take note of why and adjust accordingly. The market being dictated by the consumer. It's that simple.
Although I've smoked a few heaters, I've never been a smoker.
But I always laughed whenever I was asked 'smoking, or non-smoking, sir'. Nary a day over thirteen, I always chose smoking. Those were the days
I never smoked either, but that was the easiest way to get seated immediately. I always said I didn't care, whichever table was open. There would always be people waiting on a non-smoking table.
In the past 10 years, airline mergers mean we now have four major airlines rather than nine. Unless you have flown on a commercial airline past ten years you shouldn't be acting like you have an idea of what this about.

I think SW is a giant pain in the ****. I want to buy my tickets and show up to the airport not continually have to worry about checking in. I was online the split second we were able to get our section (because you cant get a seat) and still got a middle seat.

If you don't check in on line early enough to getting boarding position A when you get to the airport and pay $40 extra they will give you an ungraded pass, and you will be one of the first passengers to board. Then head directly to row that has emergency evacuation door.

Be sure everyone in your party has a large carry on so no overhead space will be left and it takes a half hour to get off because your carryon is 10 rows back.

Good idea.
Also, I try to find the stinkiest sandwich in the airport and put it in my carry on. When the plane reaches 10,000 feet, I pull out my food and start chomping away. When I'm finished, I take my shoes off for a more comfortable flight.

You get what you pay for.

Really?
When was the last time you flew Southwest?
And what other airlines are your referring to?
It's okay (sw)but don't expect any conveniences.
