First encounter with hogs!

Brand new to hunting. Set some cams up i got cheap on ebay in hungrylands WMA just because it was closest to my house. Wish i entered the quota!

As i was walking back to retrieve one of the cams today, heard some grunts to my east off, then a lil while down to my west i startled two piglets no more than 10 feet away laying in a few inches of water under some brush. Needless to say they startled me a bit more! They took off and momma started making a fuss out there, couldnt see her but she was real close. Heard 3 or 4 more on the way to the cam.

Unfortunately, nothing on the cams, but that was awesome! Huge rush and i wasnt even hunting! Cant wait to scout corbett and get out there!!

Plenty of pigs in Corbett. Most success has come the last half hour of legal light for me. They seem very nocturnal out there probably from being hunted so hard.I ran into them during turkey season almost every morning I was walking in. Setup near thick areas where they bed down and you will eventually catch them coming out early enough to get a shot. Do your scouting and you will find areas with plenty of hog sign. Good luck!

Shot my first hog there(Corbett) 45 years ago when I was 15 years old with my brand new $88 Marlin 30-30. That memory is still played back in my head like it was yesterday.
