Originally designed for striped bass by Lefty Kreh, the Deceiver pattern eventually made its was down to Florida to become a staple pattern that almost every saltwater fly angle has in their fly box. The pattern mimics a swimming baitfish. The fly suspends in the water and has a lot of movement in the tail. The Deceiver has been thrown a multitude of fish species, and is also a very effective freshwater pattern. The fly is tied on a size two hook with a saddle hackle and krystal flash tail, diamond braid body, ducktail collar, and red krystal flash gills.
