Captiva Trout

I'm headed with the family from Jacksonville to Captiva for vacation. I haven't been down that way since I was a kid, about 30 years ago. Back then I remember the trout fishing in the turtle grass to be outstanding. With massive population expansion, I assume the area isn't as good, but was wondering if trout are caught in the area any longer. Thanks!

Certainly not as plentiful as 30 years ago, but you won't have any problem finding them now.

We did well with trout not that long ago on popping corks in the Pine Island sound. Caught a really nice fat 24" trout.

I was at Captiva on vacation 2 weeks ago. I live in Jacksonville too. We had a blast catching trout on top water. Gulps worked good too under a cajan thunder white baits worked best I found most of the fish on the north end of North Captiva in 3 to 5 ft. Look for the checker board bottom. Get out early and you will do well
