Panama City bottom trip.... Sat 7/1

Found a nice class of gags. Zero red grouoer, which is strange. Same area a month ago produced limit of 10 and we released anther 6-7. No Wahoo, which surprised me. Couple scamp. Couple black snapper. Average red snapper take, if not a bit smaller. Kings zipper thick on flat line. Quire a few pulled hooks WAY off bottom on quality gags... odd. Jacks were quite problematic on a few spots, as were triggers on a couple others.

Wow that is insane. I wish we could have a trip like that! Congratulations. How far did you have to go out?

Did you have any problems with sharks? We had 12 quality fish stolen by sharks Saturday out of Destin.

One shark was bad at one spot. He nabbed a legal, but not big, snapper boat side while another guy had a nicer fish coming up. I was behind wheel. One angler had half a fish dangling in air... I ran back there, freespooled half-fish, and he came back to it. Ended up boating the other snapper, which was one of our nicer fish. Shark did end up grabbing the dead half and it cost me a hook. We left that spot.

I had a bigger struggle with dolphin, jacks and triggers... in descending order.

Pretty good ways. Bite was odd, too. Most of the fish came in three or four rallies. Then there'd be an hour of nothing, even though I was showing them.

Depends on who you ask. ;-)

I call it sleeping on the way burning little fuel on nice night. Other folks call it overnight.

    Awesome catch!!

We had a problem with the sharks on several spots yesterday. Got one boat side. Another mangled a snapper. And, we lost several hooks to them. We even saw 2 swimming around the boat at one spot.

Wish we could find some grouper. We can't seem to buy any grouper the last couple of trips. Snapper yes, grouper no.

Interesting that you got the flatline working with the Kings. We didn't get a bite Sunday or Monday on the flatline. Nothing trolling the high speed panhandler, either.

    Happy 4th!!

It was the worst case for us we have had. We moved 5 times and they would show up pronto. We lost some awesome grouper and snapper, along with a few jacks and almacos. It was horrible.
