Alternative to onstar in a phone app?

My wife is asking me to find a way to track and protect our two new teen drivers. They drive older cars, 2010/2008.
With all the apps out there we would think there would be a solution? My wife has seen "Life 360 premium" but the reviews are not so good? Any thoughts? We have Geico and their app provides a lot of road side assistance, but may wish more than what this offers. Thanks for your input. Tomm

Don't know what you mean by protect. GPS phone tracker is pretty good for tracking the phone's location. It is off occasionally, but accurate 99% of the time. It has a free and premium version. There are dozens of tracking apps.

If the kids have an IPhone you can use the Find Friends app to track.

I have no experience with tracker / spy ware.

I did a google search for life360 competitors and found the articles were dated. Then searched find my friends competitors and found:

The find my friends app works just fine. Download it on all phones and everyone creates a sign in. Then you request each one of them. All my kids and my wife has it so we can just see where each other are at. I told my kids if they turned it off I would quit paying for their phone. Never had any problems. They know we can look up where they are at. Of course its only the phone itself.
