Original plan was to go to Elbow Cay on Thursday but moved it up to Tuesday to beat the weather over.. too rough to fish the first couple days, finally got out Friday and Saturday and caught some Dolphin. Stopped in at Boat Harbor on Saturday to watch the Marlin shootout Tournament boats come in, what a sight... these guys are the 1% of the 1%...several had their 100+ foot yachts, a 65'-70' sport fish and a 36' center console has their tenders...saw an amazing 129# Yellowfin weighed in, some nice Dolphin and 74# wahoo was on the board... also a lot of Marlin releases. Sunday was Nippers. Monday we had our best day on Dolphin including my personal best 43# Bull. We didn't target Marlin. Didn't do great on Deep Dropping but did get some Yellow Eyes. Tuesday another nice Bull. Wednesday rain and hung out, Thursday blowing 25 mph from the south but hit Petes Pub. Friday more deep dropping and a little bottom fishing and Jiggy catches a nice 11# Mutton. Came home Saturday in gorgeous weather and picked up a few BFT in the channel before heading home ... didn't really have enough time to find the YFT... overall a good trip, but as usual, we missed the weather by a week!
We found the dolphin out in Wonderland off Elbow an a blue off Guana. That was last Friday and Saturday. The water seemed really hot at 83+ most of the time. When we found cooler areas,we found dolphin. We would have loved to find some tuna but no luck. Not even blackfins. Sounds like you did well. Thanks for the report.
